Best earset microphone for high wind situations?
I've got a project in which we shoot outdoors, with a lot of movement, and an over the ear (earset) microphone would be my first choice. In the past we did this with a lav, but it wasn't as good as I would have liked...
I do have access to a Countryman E6 set (e6dw5t2sr, unidirectional) but it is terrible with any amount of wind at all. I'm looking for a similar mic, but one that can handle light to medium wind and still deliver useable audio. Currently we're using the Sony UTX-B2/URX-P2 wireless system. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

One of these furry guys should help with the Countryman.
Professional Wind Protection at the DVeStore Don't know anything about or the size of the Sony, but they likely have one for that as well. |

Re: Best earset microphone for high wind situations?
I'd love it if it were that simple! ...And I have tried it, but there's a problem. The issue I'm having here is that the only companies I can find that make the proper size fuzzy for the E6 (it's a 3mm mic, much smaller than a standard lav) don't do the right color... I need it to match the mic, and I can't find one in beige. (The fuzzy I tested with was comically oversized. It did work, though!)
The Sonys I mentioned are just the transmitter/receiver set, we've got several lavs that we use with them. |

They make windjammers for the B6, that's about the same size as the E6.

Interesting, thanks! Still stuck on the color issue, though.
I guess I could just paint the white one beige! |

Are you already using the foamy windscreen that comes with the E6? (and is beige!)

Yes, I am. This thing is just too sensitive to wind!
With the beige foam windscreen and a (black, because that's what I've got) furry windjammer it's okay, but it looks hideous. Which means it doesn't get used... |
