Sound Devices 552 battery level meter
Do I need to have internal batteries for the battery meter to work on the 552? I've made a DIY power pack and if I don't have batteries inside it doesn't seem to work. Checked the battery level with a multimeter and it's reading 11.2 volts with 6+ amps. No problem running the mixer either. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or need to set something up differently.
Thanks. |

Re: Sound Devices 552 battery level meter
When the battery check is pressed, the Bottom/Right meter shows external battery level, whilst the Top/Left meter shows Internal. The external batt. low voltage warning/ battery type can be changed via 'set-up menu. I don't recall the 552 needing internal batteries to operate the ext. batt. check.

Hi Rick. That's exactly how it operates as long as I have internal batteries. But if I don't have batteries in the mixer nothing comes up on the meters when I push the battery check button.

Re: Sound Devices 552 battery level meter
I no longer have a 552.. always had internal batteries in it anyway for backup when using external pwr.
Call Sound Devices, you can actually talk to a real person, and likely even to Jon T. if you wish. Or.. post over at the JW audio group, a few folks there still have a 552. |
