Zoom H4N - Playing Back Recordings Without Hearing Live Mics
Hi,
I've run into an issue several times and haven't found a great solution but perhaps I am doing something wrong. When I try to listen back to a previously recorded sound file on my H4N, I still hear whatever live audio is coming through the built in or plugged in microphones - as you can imagine this makes reviewing a recording very difficult as often the talent is chatting away while I am playing back the file and I end up still hearing them PLUS the previously recorded audio being played back. The only solution I've found so far is to physically disconnect whatever mics are plugged into the H4N each time I listen back to a recording but that's not practical. Solutions anyone? |

Re: Zoom H4N - Playing Back Recordings Without Hearing Live Mics
I only had an H4n briefly, but looking at the docs and thinking of the operation of my H2 I'd consider the following.
If you don't have full-time monitoring set in the menu, I believe you have to press the Record Button once to set monitor mode. So you should not be hearing the sources unless you have that setting turned on or have that button pressed. If I'm wrong, or if it matches your workflow better, I think you should be able to deselect the input without disturbing other settings, thus muting that input. Does that help? Fran |
