I've ordered a hosa ATT448 to try
Hopefully the audio quality will now compliment the video much better than it has in the past.

I wish to thank the contributors to this topic
Just tapped into the sound system at the university auditorium which was giving me so much trouble previously and with the aid of the devices recommended in this thread was able to record clean audio for the fist time at this venue
