Looking for a Roland R88 users review
I was planning to pick Roland R88 mixer/recorder. Still very confused between this and Tascam P82. I am unable to decide between for the cost difference. There arent any users review online. I intend to use it on Production Set for movie rentals. Wouls this be an over kill or kill joy for the work aimed.

Re: Looking for a Roland R88 users review
Not easy to measure. I just bought an R-88 and I can tell you the preamps are really quiet, quieter than my MOTU Travaler mk3 and much quieter than my Tascam DR-70D. What did you get in the end?

FWIW: Stated Characteristics Residual Noise Level
(IHF-A) OUT 1–8 -80 dBu or less ([LEVEL (INPUT/MIXER)] knobs = -infinity) MIX OUT -90 dBu or less ([LEVEL (INPUT/MIXER)] knobs = -infinity) Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise 0.02 % or less ([SENS] knob = +4 dBu, [LEVEL] knob = 0) Frequency Response 20 Hz–40 kHz (0/-3 dB, Sampling frequency = 96 kHz–192 kHz) Download the manual/specs here: Roland R-88 Manual/Support As I mentioned the JW Sound group in another post, I recall a few R88 discussions there. |
