Anyone have any experience with Sennheiser XSW 12 wireless mics?
Looking for a value option for live event (conference/convention) mics primarily for webcast, not necessarily for live sound reinforcement, for those times when I don't get a/there isn't board feed from the A/V company.
Sennheiser Canada Inc. - XSW 12 I haven't historically had much luck with the Evolution100 G2/G3 series (I take a lot of wireless hits) and want an AC powered rackmount receiver. I hate the belt packs on the Shure systems (SLX/ULX) but I'd use them (with aftermarket lavs) if they are significantly better. This is to have sitting on my shelf for last minute gigs where I don't have the luxury of making my way to the rental shop before a gig. Thoughts?

Re: Anyone have any experience with Sennheiser XSW 12 wireless mics?
I use 5 of the Audio-Technica 4000 series belt-pack systems and they work well. However, they are around $1000 with a good lav element.
I also use 4 of the Audio-Technica 3000 series handheld systems that have performed well. The belt-pack version of the 3000 series is about $499 with a reasonably good stock AT831CW Lavalier Element. |

The G3 have a mains powered rackmount unit. The XS series is a downmarket and cheaper unit compared to the G3.

I have been using the Sennheiser XSW solution both with belt pack transmitter (definitely needs a better lav!) and handheld mic.The set is replacing an EW set.The sound quality is quite comparable. The build quality is reasonable, but less than the EW series.

I just saw this advertised in TV Tech mag:
MXL wireless audio system FR-500WK Marshall Electronics - MXL FR-500WK Professional Portable Wireless Audio System They don't offer much specification info, and based on the $399usd street price, I wouldn't expect much. |
