Audio Technica 4053b Hypercardoid Mic
I bought one of these a few days ago as part of a plan to upgrade my indoor interview kit for boom/stand work (I use a Rode Lavalier on the speaker too).
Anyway, it arrived this morning. I have to say I'm very impressed by it's performance, sensitivity, clarity, low self-noise and build quality. It comes with a life-long guarantee too. I think that was £400 well spent!

I really rate AT mics and have five of the AT875 r small shotguns as my main gen purpose mics!

Re: Audio Technica 4053b Hypercardoid Mic
Those AT875r mics get great reviews for an inexpensive, short shotgun that has the flexibility to be used for indoor interviewing in some situations too (at a pinch, or so I've read, and it seems you might agree).
I think I might get a AT875r for my Canon C100, as my Rode NTG-3 is way too long for any wide angle run-n-gun work - as seen in the pics I posted here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/new-cano...22mm-lens.html I also have a (now discontinued) AT825 stereo mic which I bought for £100 second hand. Lovely open sound on that one.

Get some 875r mics here at a bargain price:URL: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=360490702983
There is nothing to match them at that price of less than 100 quid inc delivery! I use mine for everything from indie drama to full broadcast these days and a rode pg2 and a ws6 is also recommended.

My AT875r arrived today (they actually tried to deliver it yesterday but I was away filming). Just tested it on the C100. Very impressed with the performance and build quality for the price. Seems nice and 'hot' too. Another £100 well spent!

Good to hear you like it, I rarely recommend kit but the 875r is one mic that I have no hesitation in encoraging people to try and at that price it is an absolute bargain!
