Sound Devices are stunning mixers, I have recently changed my kit from 2x Shure FP33 mixers to Sound Devices 442 + MixPre to give me 6 channels (only used on occasional shoots), Yes im saving for a SD664

Most times any mixer 'if used correctly" is better than no mixer at all, Sound Devices is top of the tree stuff but there are plenty of other options out there if you need a simple mixer.
