Talk back system?

Need a way to communicate with the boom op. Denecke makes a talk-back system, and I like their products, but I don't want another wire between me and the boom-op. I'm thinking more along the lines of a walkie talkie of some sort. Boom-op has an MM1, which has a monitor input. I usually stand next to the camera with a SD302 and monitor from there. Boom op can talk into her own microphone to communicate with me, but can't hear a word I say with her headphones on. It's a big problem. Can somebody recommend some products for me? I don't want anything that will cause interference with other wireless gear, if possible. I'm hoping there's some kind of walkie talkie that will plug into the monitor input of the MM1.

Marco,

I have a 4 place 49mHz headset system you can borrow for a shoot to try it out. Give me a shout - might cost you a beer!

Hey Mike, what is the brand/url for the thing you have, and does it cause interferance with shooting?

Steven
I'm using a NADY system. The units I have are out of production, but the specs seem to be closest to this one

I've mostly used it in hard wired audio/video environments, but have used it a couple of times with UHF Diversity mic systems without noticable problems. Of course YMMV.

i build a set of 4 wireless headphone (make sure to take a radio frequency one, not infrared) keeping only one emitter and adding a mic and preamp.
this is very convenient, since the headphone are fully covering the ears (we often use them in noisy place).
you could even plan to give the boom operator a feedback of the recorded sound.
these headphones cost less than 50$.
Mine are from JVC

I can see a future need to have a way to talk back and forth with my wife and anyone else with us while doing wedding shoots.

I thought about just using our cell phones and a head set, but I'm concerned about the interference.

What I really want would me us look like the Secret Service or FBI, but hey, I'm looking for results in comuncation. :}

Cell phones can be a disaster from interference. Definitely not recommended
