mount/windshield combo?

B&H bundles this Rycote Lyre mount and pistol grip :

Rycote Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip 033702

...with a softie.

I wonder if the same mount/grip could be used with the Rycote Miniscreen, even though it's described as being for camera or boom mounting:

Thanks!

Yes - you can certainly use the Softie Mount with a MiniScreen.

In fact a MiniScreen with its Windjammer is about 5dB better than a Softie.

Re: mount/windshield combo?

Thank you, John. I'm looking for maximum versatility, with approximately

40 percent handheld/pistol
40 percent boom
20 percent on-camera (not recommended, I know, but some unavoidable situations)

I figured that the Lyre, pistol grip, mini windshield w/fur, and CCA would give me that flexibility.

In which case I would get the Rycote Universal Camera Kit + the Softie mount with pistol grip.

The camera kit will give you the MiniScreen with Windjammer and the camera mount and then the Softie Mount will give you the hand-held and boom option.

Re: mount/windshield combo?

John, it would be better for me to use the camera's mic clamp as the attachment point, rather than the hotshoe. Better location on the camera.

What about this:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/497668-REG/Rycote_037304_37304_Camera_Clamp_Attachment.html
Couldn't that be used alternately with the Softie kit's pistol grip, and then the miniscreen added to either configuration?

Agreed - but the adaptor for the camera clamp is included in the Universal Camera Kit.

see this picture and look HERE.

What I suggested should be the most cost-effective way of doing what you want.
