add timecode to audio?
Is it possible to take an audio file (.wav) and add a specific timecode to it that I can edit with in an NLE. Don't care if I need to convert it to another format.
Actually, as I'm writing this it occurred to me I could lay the audio in an NLE timeline and export as an AVI file. Now I just need a way to add a specific timecode to the audio timeline. (later) I was able to figure it out in Premiere Pro. I added the audio to the timeline, then added a "black" clip above it in the video line. then I linked them together, and added the "timecode" effect to the black video (you can't add the timecode effect to audio only). then I chose "generate" in the timecode effect and typed in the starting timecode for the clip. just what I needed - works awesome! I'm using this for a concert I shot that has timecoded video, but non-timdcoded audio recorded on another device that I want to marry to the video. Re: add timecode to audio?
Striping "wild" timecode onto the audio is pointless. For timecode to be of use, the code associated with a particular instant in the audio must be identical to the code recorded with the frame in the video where that instant occured. In other words, you have to record identical code with both the audio and the video at the time the original recordings are made. Adding it later does nothing..

Re: add timecode to audio?
I have an hour long video clip with timecode. I'm going sync my non-timecode audio up to the video, and then add the same timecode to audio. then I can "cut" the audio into sections that will have the same timecode as the corresponding video clips.
I tired it, it works fine! |
