free software to remove and/or replace the audio on a video clip?
And if so what is the easiest to use? A tutorial on how would also be appreciated if it exists.
Right now I want to do it for some clips generated on the iphone 4 but I also have canon DSLR (also produces .mov format by default). Thank you. |

Re: free software to remove and/or replace the audio on a video clip?
This is a normal function within most if not all NLEs, though if there is an exception it's more likely to be in "free" software than paid software. Read the manual or help section for the precise method.
Why do you seek free software? Presumably you paid for your Iphone and DSLR; buying an NLE that suits you now and into the foreseeable future is part of the process. |

The problem with most "free" software is that usually it's worth
only what you pay for it... that is, nothing. Consider how much it really would be useful to you, and then set your budget accordingly. Meanwhile you might look into WavePad: http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html It's capable and certainly affordable; about $50 (how I wish I could fill up the gas tank in my truck for less than that these days!) I'm pretty sure that the trial versions of most of the popular NLE apps will let you do what you want, as long as it's within their trial time limits. Thread moved to All Things Audio. |

Google Audacity - many people find it excellent, and free!

Aha! Thanks, Paul -- Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
That's a pretty healthy list of features... http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/features |
