Hiss Audio Problem: Advice Please!

How does one minimize hiss on an audio track? I taped a concert recently and there was a noticeable hiss from the sound system used. I've used Sound Forge and its "smooth" process, and it does muffle the hiss noticeably, though not being an audio expert I'm wondering if anyone here would utilize a different option in post.

Thanks!

Did you buy the Noise reduction plugin? It will do a very good job of reducing "hiss".
