New DTMP Wave&MP3 recorder!

Yesterday I entered nearby electronic shop and was atracted from the shelfs of the MP3 players. I've been interested in an MP3 player for music listening that I can eventually use in ocasional production.

Then I saw I think a new device by Edirol (Roland) called Wave/MP3 Recorder R-1. I imediately remembered my first MD player Sony MDR-1 - similar names and similar size but much lighter.

I just went to the japanese site of Roland and found it has big brother - more capable and only WAV that has 4 phantom XLRS mic plugs.

Here is the original site http://www.roland.co.jp/products/dtm/R-1.html
And for the big brother http://www.roland.co.jp/video/audio_acc/R-4.html

Check out this review on a Japanese review site http://ad.impress.co.jp/tie-up/roland0503/index.htm
If you can't read it you can at least see some photos showing posible usage. There is even sound samples.

Oh yeah it uses CF cards for storage and 2 AA batteries (or Ni-Mh rechargeable). On 256 CF one can store 102 min of 320kbps MP3 or 23 min 16bit/44.1kHz WAV. Can use up to 2GB cards (188min WAV). It has also built in pair electret condenser mics, line in and out minijack and optical out (but not in). Uses USB 2 interface for connection to PC or MAC.

What do you think? Was 39000 yen (AC adaptor and 64MB CF included)

Here is a link, for those of us who can't read or speak Japanese-
http://www.edirol.com/products/info/r4.html

I like it, as it seems closer to what I have been looking for, next to a Deva that is ;) Now, how much is 39000 yen in American?

Thanks Keith,
I also found the american pages for Edirol. I particularly like the R-4 - they both are listed on the B&H photo online store as well (recorders section).
The 39000 yen price was for R-1 though (not for the link Keith is giving) - about 360USD.
On B&H it is a bit more expensive than that, while the R-4 is about 1400USD.
I liked the M-Audio Mini Track - comes with phantomed XLR mic inputs and records in native DV 48kHz for less than R-1.
What Edirol is offering more are limitter and some onboard effects you can record on the fly.
