Lav clipped under the buttons

I have a DJ friend who clips his lav underneath the buttons of a collared shirt to protect from wind noise. It seems to work for him. Is this common?

Re: Lav clipped under the buttons

This is very common for 'hiding'' a mic The Countryman B6 is a popular mic for this.... however I doubt significant effectiveness for wind problems..'Under' a shirt would be better.
