Tascam DR-680 V1.2 Firmware Update out
tascam snuck this out quietly. its V1.2 Firmware update which has MS stereo support ! also has some power management fixes ( you can thank me for this one ;) )

That came out a while ago. Another cool thing with the update is that you can "gang" the levels on 2 tracks for stereo mics, so you can turn up/down a stereo mic (2 tracks) with one turn of the knob.

The gang function ROCKS! Such a clever implementation too. I don't like the "controls on the top" aspect of the dr-680, but they've done amazing work in firmware to move controls to the side pointed up in bags.
To other dr-680 users... if you switch to low gain mode and turn your input all the way up, do you hear "clock noise" on channels 2 and 5 when you record? I read about somebody else noticing this problem, and wondered if it was in the design or a defect in my unit. You have to crank the gain pretty high, which is unusual, but i did find it recording some fine detail stuff. Cheers! |
