Deffective Beachteck?
Hey guys-
I just recieved my Beachtek DXA-6 Adapter for my GL2 this past week. I hooked a low end mic up to it (a Sure RS130 Vocal Mic) and it works without the phantom power on. Is this normal? I looked at the mic's booklet and it didn't say anything about power requirements. So does this mean my Beachtek is deffective, and that it will send phantom power to any mic I connect to it (which could damage battery powered mics? Or does anyone know if this mic doesn't require phantom power (which doesn't make sense because it doesn't have a battery in it). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Brett |

btw,
in my experience, phantom power will pretty much never harm a balanced dynamic mic. a ribbon mic can be a different story, but you're unlikely to be working with a ribbon without knowing about it. |
