stereo mic ambient recording, opinion about mkh 418

i own a sennheiser mkh 416 and a mkh 40, I have to do some stereo ambient recording,

was thinking to buy a mkh 418 , but i wonder if i can use my mics to obtain same result?

You need to get an MKH 30 and use that with either your MKH 416 or MKH 40 to do MS stereo.

That will give you far higher quality than the MKH 418-S - and more flexibility as well.

I have the MKH 30/40 combination and it has given me excellent results over the years.

what pistogrip/windshield basket combination do you have them in?

I use the Rycote stereo basket windshield.

I also have a special In-Vision mount and a Softie mount.

The In-Vision is used with a pair of the Rycote back-to-back clips.
