Batt Life: Tascam DR-100 Vs Sony PCMD50

I'm using the Zoom H4n. Very happy with the quality but the battery life sucks. I tried the extended batt life and normal but they both seem to drain out in 2hours. I'm using energeizer batts and no phantom power, only extenal line feed to one channel. Kinda disappointed so I'm looking for a second recorder.

The Sony is a little steep for me so I'm targetting the Tascam DR-100. Anyone has experience here? Besides that, does the TASCAM handle hot inputs well? I normally run a PAD if I have a hot input to the Zoom H4n or the audio will be distorted.
