Izotope RX - I love it!

FWIW - just wanted to put in a plug for Izotope RX. The more I use it the better I like it.

Here's one before/after comparison

I haven't tried the newer version of Audition yet, but up to now RX is the nicest package I've found (Just my humble opinion) for going after this kind of noise - great as a cough remover as well.

By the way, the piece is "Oblivion" by Astor Piazzolla, the Argentine composer better known for his tangos for Bandoneon (Bandoneón - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I didn't record it, but was cleaning up an older recording for the violinist.

Great application! I absolutely love it. I found it because SoundTrack Pro sucks so much and audio restoration is the main thing I used it for.

Audobe Audition is coming to the Mac though. So I might use that program in the future. But for the advanced restoration jobs, iZotope RX is all you need.

They also have an "advanced" version of Izotope RX with a few more bells and whistles, but at a higher price point. So far I haven't found anything I can't clean up with RX. Mostly it's taking coughs and extraneous noises out of recordings that I do.

The big thump in the Piazzolla piece was a bit tougher than the average cough because it had such a large low frequency component and went right across the whole frequency range, whereas coughs tend to have most energy at somewhat higher frequencies.

RX is the best noise removal software going right now. I have SoundSoap Pro too and it stinks in comparison. They are supposed to be coming out with version 2 but I don't think it'll touch RX.
