Audio "studder" in FCP

Ive imported an mp3 into FCP to edit to. When I listen to the song separately through the viewer it sounds fine, but when I drag the audio to the timeline it seems to studder (or crack, scratch, jump.) Ive encountered this when transfering files from computer to camera with Adobe Premiere but never in editing with FCP. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this? I have tried re-importing and re-loading and it still "jumps" in the same spots. Thanks.

Have you rendered the audio? Sequence > Render All. See if that helps...

i've noticed on the PC that when i import mp3s into my NLE that are at a different sample rate than the project, stutters and pitch shifts can occur. i assume your mp3 is 44.1khz. if you're working with dv, your project is either 32 or 48khz. i would open the mp3 in a wave editor like peak, or soundforge on the PC, and export the track as either a 32khz or 48khz aiff file, depending on your project settings.

hope that helps.
