Giant Squid and my DVX

Okay you giant squid guys. Hopefully one of you knows the answer to this because Darren does not have a clue.

Can I hook his unpowered mic into my DVX100? It would require him to put on an XLR connector, which he can do. But he started giving me all this techie stuff about voltages, etc, and would not commit to it working or not. Basically he said that the camera cannot put more than 10volts on the line. I didn't even know the camera would put voltage on the line unless I was running phantom power (but I guess that makse sense).

So have any of you plugged a giant squid mic into an XLR, either on a DVX or maybe a PD-150 ?? Does it work okay? Or do you know what the voltage would be on the mic-inputs of the DVX100a?

This is the exact same question I have with regards to my PDX-10 (same XLR as the PD150/170). I got the same answer from Darren about the 10v max. Has anybody been able to figure out the answer to Bob's question for either the DVX or PD cams?

I got an answer on DVXuser.com. DVX phantom power will blow out a GS mic. I bought a Countryman B3 lav with XLR and love it.
