The punching suonds i have found suck... I also need a sound for someone beating someones head in with a wooden cane. Any help would be huge.

Nick,
Hve you tried this sound effects archive. I use it all the time. I don't know about the speicifc ones that you want - but it is a good place to start. http://www.grsites.com/sounds/

Get creative. Record various sounds such as... Punching large piece of meat. (Think ham, NOT frozen), Punch a leather sofa cushion, whack a cushion covered with a leather jacket... hit it with your hand, with a bat, with a stick... Punch a sack of flour, slap a sack of flour...
In short, try hitting things till you find what you want, record many variations and then cut out what you need to put on your timeline. I've done this with punches, kicks, sword hits, items splashing into creeks... Of course, you'll need a good room for recording in. |

A taped on phone book landing on a table may work well for punches.
