Flash recorder + iPod for storage?

Just doing some thinking ahead here... is it possible to transfer files from the USB output of a flash recorder (I have the Marantz PMD660 in mind) to an iPod? I am thinking of getting the iPod Photo some day to use with my digital camera. This way the iPod would serve double duty.

Alternatively, is there a HD-based recorder that is good for audio recording (at least DAT quality), preferably with phantom XLR (though I could use my Beachtek if necessary) and a color LCD for photos?

It turns out the answer is an qualified yes (it does not preview RAW files, which I intend to use.)

Update: David Pogue has an article on portable storage devices for the NY Times
