AT897 mic with Canon Elura

I'm considering upgrading my Canon Elura (original "classic") microphone with a Audio-Technica 897 mic. From what I read, this microphone seems to be an excellent choice for the money.

Anyone tried one with an Elura with Canon's SA-1 adapter bracket and DU-200 docking station? Is there a chance that the mic will be seen by the camera? I'm also planning on using a XLR stereo to mini mono cable to drive both channels.

Thanks for your comments.
