Smartsound
A little bit of information required from those who use smartsound.
I am looking at Smartsound to use with Premiere pro. I notice on the smartsound website that they do a ppro version plug in. Am I correct in thinking that the normal version just has to have the time entered and a soundtrack to that length will be made, which can then be imported in, and the ppro version will only work within ppro in a similar manner. Is the normal version the better buy so it can be used for other projects? Any recommendations on which version to purchase would be welcome. Carl |

I use Sonicfire, the stand-alone version of Smartsound.
It does a couple of things. First, it uses a timeline model -- you can import an AVI and work up the music tracks on the timeline. Next, it will import non-Smartsound music, both from wav files and CDs. However, it does work the way you indicated: you select a song (either directly or by using a "style selector" wizard), punch in a time and it spits out a wav file of the correct track length. It can export directly to Premiere Pro -- if you have Premiere Pro open, it will automatically drop the selection into the open bin. |
