No that unit is an active direct box that *requires* phantom power to operate. It does not provide phantom power to anything else

The cheapest battery operated phantom supply (other than ART)is the Rolls PB224 at $85. Click for rolls site. There are several around the 50 -$60 mark but they use a wall wart ac power supply.
