Audio quests about interview for an airshow doc

Hola, i'm guessing what are the best solutions about the audio techniques during interviews to the pilot of acrobatic jets before they take off for their exibition.Using a lavalier sennheiser mic will catch too many sounds from the airport?Or do you suggest to use a Rode NTG1 just in case of other Jet flying over the airport. This is a proble.Anybody out there has experience in that?

thx
MM

Rode NTG1 inside a blimp inside a dead wombat cover ... on the end of a pole. Bring a friend to wield the pole.

Hola Marcus. You might find they won't do interviews right before their display and other aircraft nearby can definitely ruin the audio, no matter what mics you use.

We have the RAAF Roulettes appear at our show each year. There's 5 pilots and their final brief is usually in front of the aircraft right before the event... no interviews too much focusing going on, especially if there's a new guy on the show.

They don't mind us shooting that brief though and we've interviewed them after they land. In that case you might be able to record them somewhere quieter.

Cheers.
