Mic purchasing help
I am getting ready to purchase three wireless mics for an out door television show. A good deal of production will be on boats and in exotic, secluded locations. Two of the mics I want to be dedicated completely to this series; good for outdoors and rugged. The third wireless I would like to be a good alround mic. But mainly for excellent sound quality. My budget for the three is rather low. I have 2k to spend. So if anyone can help its much appreciated.

Joe,
I have little knowledge in water matters...but find the AT 100 sysetm to be great! Using with 897 on occasion, of course, as well as the 899. 899 isn't the toughest mic around, but microlavs usually aren't.

The mke2 is a really good sounding lav that's almost water proof. I've read that you can dunk an mke2 (gold) in a glass of water, shake it off, and use it.
The Countryman B6 is supposed to be just as waterproof, sound just as good, and it's practically microscopic. If I could afford it that's the lav I would have bought. I've played with the AT system Douglas suggested and I was very impressed with it. Considering that you want 3 systems plus some special lavs I think that just about lines up with your budget. |
