Rode NTG-3 not working and shoot tomorrow, any ideas ?
Hi,
I've come back from a shoot a couple of weeks ago with a working Rode NTG-3 (I use with my Sony EX-1). Today, while trying out the equipment for tomorrow's shoot, I realize the mike is working for a couple of seconds, then it just dies out, with a sound similar to when a piece of audio equipment runs out of batteries. No wait, I just tried again, it does not work at all now. Any audio geniuses with clues ? Thanks a lot that would help cure my growing panic attack. Francesco. |

Since the NTG-3 uses an external power source (phantom power), I would check that power source.

Is the EX1 set to send Phantom currently?

Hi both
Oh god. I just checked now and it was in the wrong setting (on the EX-1 the setup is on the camera, it must have just slipped and when you move). All solved, I must just be a little stressed out. This attack (and this post) was really unnecessary. It's good to feel the community support though. Thanks so much, Francesco. |

Hi Francesco, we've all been there, well I have anyway. One time this new director was driving us all crazy and I'd had enough. When he asked what I was going to do about the loud traffic outside, I grumbled, 'put a mic out there and fade it out' He bought it.
Get an early night mate. Cheers.
