Interview Audio on the cheap
I will be working on a student project consisting of mainly interviews using a canon gl2. I am worried that the onboard mic will not be sufficient, so i am wondering if anyone can point me to any mics that i could use in the sub-$75 area. I will not be keeping my equipment when i am finished, so "investing" in euqipment is not really a choice.
I understand that this is not nearly enough money for most of you all to buy a mic, but i just need something to get the job done |

you can ALWAYS find used 831b lavs on Ebay for around 50.00, and they are available new for about 100.00 anyway. Great interview mic, if you can manage a lav. If not, the Shure SM 58 is another good choice, but it's a little harder to get close to the subject., and is bigger on screen.

Why not rent. Sub $75 stuff isn't decent. JMO

For your project, camera and budget I would suggest the Calrad 10-91 lav. You can get it from arcade electronics for $31.50
see: http://tinyurl.com/2mgpk I have 3 of these and used them a lot for interviews with my GL2 until I bought something better. Bullet proof and strong audio levels into the GL2 You should pick up a 10 foot extension cable for it. This one for $2 should work: http://tinyurl.com/2dcsu |
