I have used and some of the on the street news teams use the ME66 as an interview mic. I have use the mic for my own voice as well as someone elses. I used it as if it were a dynamic hand held.

It isn't all that big. I would assume that someone used the mic as a last resort and wound up liking the results.

Mike, If you're using the VX2000 without a preamp, you're stuck with a higher output mic. The ME62 and ME64 are 31 mv and the ME66 is 50 mv. 31 mv would be enough so long as you had the mic close to the speakers mouth.

The 62 looks reasonable and has a suspension for the capsule.

Be certain you get the velorized wind screen for it and the 66 although you may want a fur cover for the 66.

I have no direct experience with the 62.

The combination would certainly be better in my mind. Much more flexible.
