Pro tools 8 or 8HD???

I recently just picked up learning Avid again and after almost 100 hours (no joke) of training i have started on protools section - I have 7.X? and DVtoolkit 1.0 - I want to upgrade but for the life of me I can't figure out what the difference is between 8 and 8HD. Your response is greatly appreciated as the upgrade price for the software is just 100.00 difference but I don't want to buy something that I can't use.

So what is the difference here?
Thanks,
Brian

with each version, PTLE gets closer and closer to PTHD. There's practically no diff, anymore. I think the biggest diff is the hardware support PTHD offers that PTLE doesn't.

I have PT 8 with the DV TK2 and it pretty much does everything I need for audio post from final cut pro, it now has 128 tracks and the only thing I can think of that is in HD is some of the enhanced automation and a better (but more costly) control surface. I have the 002 console but 8 faders is enough for me at the moment.

this answers it for me as i was upgrading to the DV kit 2.0 as its like 40.00. I will not have any hardsurface controls so i was thinking it was just a waste of money for me at this point.
Off i go to get the upgrade

Cheers,
Brian
