I'm presently looking at buying a second hand Sony WRT 820 A wireless reciever and transmitter. It also has the Sony ECM 77 lav mic.

In terms of price I'm looking at around $500 and its had minimal use.

I was just wondering 1) what people think of the above diversity unit ( I know its now an old model but is it good enough?)

Or 2) do you think I should just buy the new Sony UWP-C1 Tie-Clip setup which people rate as one of the best low cost models around.

have you looked at the sennheiser evolution 500 system?

i got a nice bundle with the transmitter/receiver/lav and plug on for handeld.

If the plug on transmitter is not something you are going to use, the Sony is the lowest True Diversity system and people seem to like the sound quality.

B&H has a special on the UWP-C1 system for $500 and you also get a $100 gift certificate (must add to cart to get the price).
