Music Video-Sound Playback Rates
Trying to find out what is the general rates my sound guys charge for this(the ones who do it on a regular bases). Just curious. Do you prefer an hourly rate or flat rate. I have done two music videos so far so I can build my resume and get the experience but my question is what is the general rate one charges when they are going to chop up the song, provide equipment(speakers, mics, mixer, etc...), and do all the playback on set? Any information would be great.
Thanks Nicole |

Hi Nichole,
I usually do location mixing, but last week was asked to provide playback for a music video. I had to take the track and stripe it with timecode to feed the slate. I also had to provide the gear so I was charging $450 per day. I can't say what a normal rate would be, though. If all I had to to was show up and push play, stop and rewind... Cheers Jon |

Thanks for the response. I talked with another guy and he said generally the rate is between 250-350 but could be more or less. But here in Atlanta, GA these music videos are so low budget so I don't have to do much in terms of getting the music together(cued). But thanks for your response.
Thanks Nicole |
