Canon DM-50 mic work ontop of Rycote Hot Shoe Extension Bar?
Just looking for a quick confirmation that there's nothing special about the DM-50 & my HV30 that it wouldn't work as usual on top of the rycote hot shoe extension. I want to get a LP Micro, and want to get all the accessories I need in one $40 shipping fee.
Ultimately I think I want to put the Micro onto a taller NRG mount, to avoid lens shadow. I get the yukky feeling that I'm going to end up buying a different on-camera mic, however. Something about that smart-shoe gibberish. If you look closely at the base of the mic you'll see little pins for the connectors, that is how the signal is brought into the camera. You might want to look at mounting your camera on a Bracket1. That way you can keep using your mic....or buy a different mic and use the NRG shoe.

Thanks Guy
That's what I was thinking. It's surely a sign that it's time to move on from on-cam mics to bigger better things. |
