Sound Card for Behringer Truths

Hi,

I'm pricing up a PC to go with a pair of Behringer Truths - B2030A. Can anyone recommend a sound card sub £200? Oh, I would like it to be Avid Media Composer compatible too.

Thanks for any pointers,

Paul

For avid probably any decent soundcard would be fine, but M-Audio is a subsidiary of Avid and if anything their cards should be compatible. The M-Audio Audiophile cards are great, I've been using a 2496 for 7 years with no problems. If you need surround sound, that is another consideration. I would stay away from consumer type cards like Creative because the drivers can be problematic. Other forums like the Cakewalk Sonar forum, Steinberg forums, even the Reaper forum are good places to get practical info on audio cards.

Check out the M-Audio, Emu, or Tascam Soundcards. Those are pretty good soundcards which I have used before. Check them out.

My favorite low cost cards are the Echo Audio Mia MIDI and the M-Audio Audiophile 192. Both have balanced I/O, which keeps your signals nice and clean. The 2496 is a fine card, but has unbalanced I/O. Unbalanced isn't too bad for driving your speakers, but unacceptable (IMHO) if you plan to use the card for recording voiceovers and foley.

I've found the Echo cards to sound quite good and the drivers extremely stable. (another important factor)

I run a pair of truths from the M-Audio audiophile 2496.. Has been working great for 5 years now! But the card is PCI only so it might not be compatible with your system..

I used that card before as well and never hard a problem with it either. Also they do make a USB version of that card. Its called the M-Audio Audiophile. Owned both and both are great.

Most places the USB version is discontinued. But you can easily find it on EBay.

Now are you wanting USB, PCI, or Firewire?
