Wait to buy wireless mic?
I currently have 1 single-channel wireless lav, an Audio-Technica, in the frequency range that will be banned after Feb. '09. I really need to upgrade to 2-channel capability to mic multiple actors...
Would it be better to get a second single-channel now and ignore the new white space regs, get a 2-channel rig, or wait a few months until the FCC and courts decide what they're going to do?

Tough Q... better minds than mine will have better ideas that I can offer I am sure. That said, here is my 2 cents worth:
Where will you be shooting? In a metro area or out in the Everglades (g)? Metro? Look at the AT1800 series in a "for now" safe frequency range, is my suggestion. Everglades? Hmmm... if a wireless mic transmits in the Everglades and no one is there does anyone hear it ? There seem to be no long term guarantees in this area of prooduction at the moment. |
