Remote Blimp/Zeppelin Wireless Video
I caught a parade last Summer in downtown Geneva Switzerland, took a bunch of grab shots. Most intriguing was a crew shooting the floats with a small helium Zeppelin. Seemed to be remote controlled and probably recording to tape. I counted three crew, a Boompole operator recording to a recorder, a Zeppelin controller and a camera operator. Anyone know if such rigs are rentable in the US?

Looks homemade, but interesting thanks. What is the other gear attached, is that helium storage and a pump. The camera looks prosumer.
I don't think it'll be long before you see Punjab versions of these rigs on EBay then airlines complaining to the FAA. Cheers. |

I have more pics. Looks like a Helium Blimp with Fore/Aft + Up fans to move it around. The Camera looks to be rigged to a Wireless Transceiver and servomotors for adjusting pan/tilt attitudes. The operator controls camera and can view shots on his laptop? or waist carried remote monitor. The whole thing was very smooth operationally. These guys travel all over Switzerland covering outdoors events for TV and Radio stations. Nice gigs!
