Wireless audio problem???

I bought the SAMSON ME32 wireless lav system last week and used it on the beach this weekend. I was setup no more that 20 feet away from my subject. The actor was demonstrating different surfing techniques and when he would lay down or just move in different directions the audio would drop all together or crackle and pop. My receiver was attached to my camera (GL2) and the transmitter on his belt.

Why was the audio dropping out at just 20 feet? I had nothing in between us and this system is spec'd out at 300' clean line of sight, no obstructions.

Other than that the audio was outstanding for the conditions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, It sounds like you got a defective unit. I would exchange for another one, or call samson tech support.

Are you sure it was dropping out? If the talent turned could he have turn away from the mic and the mic was only picking up the sound of the clothing? Also check batteries and all the connections.

New battery, connections perfect.

As for the mic I know it's omnidirectional and was picking up great. It was really cutting out with no audio what so ever.

Thanks for posting,

Gear sounds sick then. Be sure to get an estimate on repair. If the price is too high just get another system.
