Need mic for high sound pressure situations
I'm looking for a mic that will take levels at 110db without flattening. I frequently record in theatres during awards ceremonies. People/ kids are screaming, whistling and whatever else at the top of their lungs xx 500 people.
I was considering a mic pre-amp like the Shure FP 23 as well. Supposedly has heavy duty limiting feature. However, I have to use a mic that doesn't distort first or the limiter doesn't matter. Canon XH-A1 camera |

Hard to say without knowing what specifically you want to record at these events.

I use the at-897 shotgun to record nitro burning top fuel race cars. max rating 129 db. at that volume you need to wear very good ear protection.
