audio straight from soundboard

I am looking to film a few concerts and would like suggestions for the best/most convenient portable audio device to record straight from the soundboard as using only camera mics would be noisy. Thanks!

For live performances,

I've used a Zoom H4, though I suspect something with timecode would be better. The H4 seems to cause problems with synching for lack of time code. It's been adequate for me for relatively short clips, i.e. less than 5 mins.

If you can afford better, then get better.
