MXL Mic Mate XLR to USB Mic Interface with Phantom Power

Hi,

I am looking for a way to recording audio directly into the computer. Trying to do it on the cheaper side without having to buy a mixer with usb connections.

Has anyone used this product:

MXL Mic Mate XLR to USB Mic Interface with Phantom Power

http://www.guitarcenter.com/MXL-Mic-...77-i1326025.gc

I recently saw it in Mix Magazine (for audio people) and was wondering if it will work directly with Adobe Audition?

I am also open to any other reasonably priced items.

Cheers, Jon

Thet's a nifty item. I just put myself on the notification list for when it's in stock. I don't happen to know if Audition will take an audio input directly from the USB port or not.

Markertek is featuring an alternate (CEN-MICPORTPRO) that runs about 50% more bucks ($140 or so after shipping, tax, etc) and trumpets ZERO LATENCY.

I don't know if that means there's a signal delay problem when monitoring with the cheaper product - we probably won't know until some folks purchase and discuss both.

I've got the pricer one on order since I'm doing a lot of voiceover directly to my laptop these days and I'd like to eliminate the entire signal path to and from the voiceover booth if I could.

When it arrives I'll do a mini-review of it.

If anyone picks up the less expensive unit, perhaps we can compare notes.

Bill,

Thanks for the extra info. Yes, I would like to hear your thoughts once you get the item in your hands and test it out.

Cheers, Jon
