Sony’s ECM-680S M-S (Mid-Side) Electret Condenser Microphone

Anyone had a play yet with Sony's new Sony’s ECM-680S M-S (Mid-Side) electret condenser microphone? I've just seen an ad for one in a Film-makers Magazine, and would be very interested to see what people actually think...

I've got one on order. I'll be using it with my Sony EX1. Sony actually has $150 rebate on it if you buy within 30 days of buying an EX1.

Craig, did you get your mic? What have your experiences been like with it, are you happy with the purchase?

I've been considering one myself.

Great Mic. Nice stereo spread when needed. Good side rejection in mono mode.

I've noticed that very high energy low frequency sounds can overload the preamp so I've had to drop the input sensitivity of the EX1 at times but this is similar to what others have reported about the EX1 Preamp.

The mic itself is excellent.

The mic seems to have a $100 rebate without any other purchase:
