Tornado audio: finding or creating it

I just did some volunteer work in Greensburg, KS, which was 95% wiped off the map back in May. Now I'm working on a short video for the volunteers. Hopefully I can find some pre-destruction snapshots and use the tornado audio in transitioning to the current situation.

I've heard of recording an ice dispenser on a refridgerator. Any other ideas?

These days, there is a lot of tornado footage out there (see YouTube) and some of it has pretty compelling audio. If you can contact the original shooter, let them know what the project is, you might get consent for little or no monetary compensation.
