Takes ages to transcode in encore?

I have a 2min fil im putting on dvd, ive made the menues and everything and then goto build and the bar counts up for the transcoding, then it reaches the end, goes back 1/4 and counts again. It does this over and over again.

Is something wrong?

Also, it doesnt seem that Premiere and encore are linked together as I cant export in premiere to Encore.
I have PPro CS3 and encore 2

It also does it when I import an .mv2 mpeg 2 file saved from premiere

Think you mean you have premiere cs3 and encore cs3 because encore cs3 is sold together with premiere cs3. Actually premiere first encodes to mpeg and then opens encore cs3 for further handling. I actually don't see any benefit from that at all, that's why I just export as dv avi, close premiere and open encore and import the dv-avi's.
The fact that it takes so long to render could be that you used a 2 pass vbr which can take long if you don't have a dual- or quadcore pc.
