title sequence and credits
When doing a title and credits sequence, is it better to send all your footage of the sequence into After Effects and put the titles over them or use titles in Premiere Pro?

Depends really how sophisticated you want your titles to be... PPro can do basic titling very well, it has a good range of pre-set stuff and templates... You can do basic motion animation also. It is fast and fine for simple stuff. If you want a more powerful tool you can import the sequence you want to title over into After Effects, and do it that way... The predefined animation is cool and you have a lot to choose from... (by the way I only import the frames in need to title over into AE.. it is very slow to render out.. I then just drop it back into the PPro timeline.) Finally I find I can design the best looking titles, type face, with bevels, drop shadows etc in Photoshop.. I simply make the background invisible and save all visible layers as a PSD file before importing into Premiere... Cheers Gareth |

I take the footage from Premiere Pro into after effects and build the titles. Then I delete or hide the layer with the video and export the titles using Quicktime Animation. Or, nowadays, I use the Dynamic Link to bring the titles into Premiere Pro.
