Are you using PPro 1.x or PPro 2.0?

O.k!

1. Place the video on Video 1
3. Place the Title on Video 2
4. Go to the Effects Window and find the Track Matte Key. (Video Effects > Keying)
5. Apply the Track Matte Key to the video on Video 1
6. Go to your Effect Controls Window
7. Change the Matte from None to Video 2 for the Track Matte Key
8. Turn off the visibility for Video 2

Now the video should be visible throught the text only and the area around the text should be pure black. :)

Yes, that can be done by using a Color Matte.

1. Go to File > New > Color Matte
2. Change the color to white
3. Drag the Color Matte from the Project Window and place it on Video 1
4. Place the video on Video 2
5. Place the Title on Video 3
6. Go to the Effects Window and find the Track Matte Key. (Video Effects > Keying)
7. Apply the Track Matte Key to the video on Video 2
8. Go to your Effect Controls Window
9. Change the Matte from None to Video 3 for the Track Matte Key
10. Turn off the visibility for Video 3

/Roger :)

Follow up for Roger

Nice explanation above Roger ... perhaps you can shed some light on motion track mattes in PPro.

I have used motion track mattes with previous versions but PPro seems to have trouble animating the position of the track matte when you need to mosaic blur just one area.

The Matte is on track 3.
Track one is base clip. Track 2 is the same clip with the effect.
Track 3 is eyeballed off and the track matte is applied to track 2.
When I change the position settings of the matte, it does not move.

I have used garbage mattes instead, but this is not useful when I need to use a feathered matte created in Photoshop.

Any suggestions as to why the motion settings do not change the position of the matte?

Specify the version of Premiere Pro. It changed from 1.5 to 2.0 in respect to Track Mattes in motion.

It seems that you are using PPro 1.x and you must use Nested Sequences for changing the position on the matte in PPro 1.x. Here is a tutorial that shows how to do it: http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotut...o_blurface.htm

Roger that.

You know, I watched that tutorial about a year ago. So critical is the extra step of nesting the matte sequence.

Sometimes men just need to be beat over the head with new concepts.

You have my thanks.
Jimmy.

You're welcome! :)

Btw, one of the great thing about PPro 2.0 is that you dont have to nest the Sequence for the matte to animate.
