Do I Need the New Production Studio?
If I have the old PPro1.5 VideoCollection Standard, do I need the full blown new Production Studio, or can I just get PPro 2? Will PPro2 work with the other programs that came in the PPro 1.5 Video Collection -After Effects 6 standard, encore dvd, audition?
Has anyone tried the new "Production Studio" ? If so, what are the significant advantages of the new versions of each of the individual programs vs the old? Thanks - PK |

here's the deal. the two coolest new features in the production studio are the Adobe Bridge and Dynamic Linking. You only get these by upgrading to one of the new Prodcution Studio flavors. If you just upgrade the individual apps, you do not get them. And they only support the new versions of each app.
From The Videoguys Insider Newsletter: The new Production Studios include two very exciting new innovations that make your workflow more productive. The Adobe Bridge media management tool introduced last year in the Creative Suite 2 has been integrated into the Production Studio. Now you can easily organize, find and manage all your media regardless of format. Now your video, audio, images, and graphics files are accessible from the Adobe Bridge, as well as additional content available via the web. Very Cool! The other new technology is called dynamic linking. Now you can be working on a graphic, background or special effects sequence in After Effects 7 and have it update automatically in the Premiere Pro 2 timeline. This will save you loads of time, as well as make it easier for Premiere users to start trying and experimenting with After Effects 7 in their productions. So yes, I think it is worth upgrading. I'd also like to add that I think Adobe has done a pretty good job pricing the upgrades for existing users. In the past I've been rather critical of Adobe charging a lot for not much. With these new Production Studios I think they are giving you a very good value. http://www.videoguys.com/adobe.htm Gary
