"Importing"
By importing, I assume you mean capturing video from your tape source (VX2100), and editing.
With any DV capture, I always use a direct capture. This is true in Premeire, Premiere Pro, Vegas, and most other editors. In other words, the captured product is a DV level .avi file. In this way, you have maximum quality file to edit from. This makes for easy editing. When you output, you can decide what level of output file you want to render. I know some editors allow capture in other formats, including .mpeg, etc., but the editing can become a nightmare. Since I upgraded to Premiere Pro, my recollection about 6.5 is starting to fade a bit, but I really don't recall it allowing capture in anything but DV. I don't currently have it mounted on my machine to check that out.

when i export out of premiere pro the audio crackles at high levels, so i matched up export settings to 48000, the same as my vx2100 records in, so when i exported again it was a little better, but still crackles, i export the same clip in premiere 6.5 and the audio is perfect, does anyone know whats going on?
